Lee in a class of his own at the International Series Morocco
A sensational eight-under second round of 65 gave Canada’s Richard T Lee a two-shot clubhouse lead over Nitithorn Thippong in the International Series Morocco at the Royal Golf Dar Es Salam.
The famous venue’s Red Course once again provided a stern test, but Lee impressively rose to the challenge making an eagle and six birdies to move to nine under par for the US$1.5 million event. He was one of only five players to break 70.
Overnight co-leader Thippong posted a one-under 72 to move to seven under for the two days, one ahead of Australian veteran Scott Hend and Spanish youngster David Puig.
Local hero Ayoub Lguirati is still in the mix for the weekend after returning a level par 73 for a one-over aggregate score. Lguirati had an eventful round, posting five birdies, three bogeys and a double-bogey.
